about

This is music composed by E# for the film What Sebastian Dreamt, directed and written by Rodrigo Rey-Rosa, a protege of the writer Paul Bowles. Filmed in the endangered rainforests of Guatemala, "What Sebastian Dreamt" premiered at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival and is the story of a young Spanish writer who inherits a home in the Guatemalan jungle, only to become wrapped up in a land war, touchy local politics,  and murder.  The music ranges from moody instrumentals played on tenor or 12-string guitar, mandolin, baglama, and synthesizers as well as processed sounds of insects, jungle birds, and ambient sounds from the Guatemalan rainforest.   Also included is a moving and dramatic song, Fugarse, written for the film by E# and Michelle Casillas and sung by her in Spanish.
