about

Q Mix is a wide-ranging collection of soundtracks composed and performed by E# between 2001-2007 for a number of productions in film, theater, video, and museum installations. It's like a wildly eclectic radio station playing a mix that is somehow all over the globe but still deeply connected to one inner stream. The sounds range from mutant electric guitar ruminations, pulsing electronica, and jazzy lyrical Latin-tinged nylon-string guitar improvisation, through Memphis soul, angular techno, Celtic mandocello, and a funky tribute to The Meters. City Scene was written for Jenn Reeves' feature film The Time We Killed; Tracks 2-4 were written for a large museum of natural history in NYC; Track 5 is a collage of interstitials and titles created for MTV; Track 6 was composed for video artist Jaye Rhee's installation Notes; and tracks 7-19 were composed for Dael Orlandersmith's play Raw Boys.
